Coming soon..
Finally, I graduated from Minerva Art Academy! But what kind of work did I make? What is it about? All these questions will be answered very soon because I will upload the prints of my graduation project that will go for sale!
Welcome to my website, enjoy!
I always thought that working in an Abstract way is not my thing. Until I got my internship at Mara Piccione in Groningen, a Silkscreen artist with an original and abstract style of working. For an assignment for school I had to see a film and make works about it. I saw 'The Shape of Water' and took the title very literal and made the silkscreen print you can see above here. It literally represents the 3 'shapes' of water: Condensation, water and ice. I am very happy with the result!
Printing techniques
At Minerva you are taught very well to go out there and experiment as much as possible. The different workplaces have a lot to offer, and so I got interested in a variety of techniques I never knew or tried before. Riso printing, Lithography and Lino cutting are my top favorite techniques to use in my work. Cutting Linoleum is very satisfying and gives me sense of peace. I hope to improve my skills further in the future.
NEW: GODZILLA CANVAS BAGS!
If you haven't already figured it out yet, I am a big fan of Japanese culture! This includes their famous and legendary monster: Godzilla.
Drawn from scratch and silkscreen printed by myself during my internship at Mara Piccione, this handbag will be at your side to carry all the stuff you need! The bags are made from cotton and the design is waterproof. The size is perfect to carry your favorite LP for example!
On the left side of the bag you can see the Kanji characters which translate to 'Go-zi-ra', or 'Godzilla' as we say in English. My original idea was to use the color red for the circle in the background, which stands for the rising sun in Japan, but unfortunately there was no red color present that day at the silkscreen studio. So instead I used green which turned out really nice!
The bags are for sale for €7 per bag! Get them while they're hot, there are not many of them!
